Caribbean news. The UK premiere of the new film from the Caribbean “Keeping Up With The Joneses: The Movie” took place at the Drum Arts Centre in Birmingham last night. The comedy-thriller had the audience laughing throughout with its well crafted script and finely delivered humour.

Distributed by Sankofa Televisual, KUWTJ: The Movie is amongst the first Caribbean film premieres in the UK for 2014 and this screening also saw the film’s director (Rommel Hall) fly in specially from Barbados to be on the question and answer panel after the film.

The Q&A panel was chaired by LJ who presents the breakfast show on Birmingham’s New Style Radio station. The panel also included Samuell Benta whose short film-clip of “All About The McKenzies” was screened before the main feature.

The audience was therefore treated to a interesting spread of a film from a Caribbean director and a film-clip from a British-Caribbean director and also treated to an interesting discussion looking at film issues from both sides of the Atlantic. Judging by the very positive comments from the audience at the end, a great time was had by all.

The main premiere of KUWTJ: The Movie takes place in London at 6pm on Thursday 27th March at the Picturehouse Cinema in Stratford. Information on booking tickets is here:
