“Not one decade, not two decades but over THREE decades of innergizing audiences across the globe. Yes it’s Inner Visions from the small but pristine and tranquil island of St. John, USVI. Inner Visions is one of the most formidable reggae bands to grace the stage since the 70’s. Their impassioned messages of love and consciousness are coupled with addressing just the right amount of soulful ingredients and arrangements that allows them to be a mainstay in the music industry.
With so many styles of reggae being represented by various artists worldwide it is extremely satisfying to hear a grassroots conscious reggae sound that is omnipresent as they have graced the stages with such notable artistes such as Third World, Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, Ernie Smith, Glen Washington, Eek aMouse, George Clinton, Bushman, Morgan Heritage, Marcia Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Yellow Man, Freddie McGregor, The Meditations, Taj Weeks, Taurus Riley, Shinehead, Culture, Wailing Souls, Midnite, Carlene Davis, Beenie Man, Sammy Dread and U Roy.
Inspired by the great musical sounds of the 70’s emerged Inner Visions hit tune Shala-la from their Spiritual Dancer Album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jgna3h8OdPk . This particular single released in 2000, occupied the #1 position on many charts throughout the British and US Virgin Islands and continues to be a crowd favorite and most requested song to this day.
This Roots and Culture Reggae Band, featuring original music produced and arranged by four family members is the band to hire when you want that homegrown old school reggae vibe that transports you to a state of euphoria while taking you down memory lane.

The group has been in existence since 1979, has six albums in their catalog (Love One Another –1995, Spiritual Dancer-2000, Street Corner Musicians-2003, Frontline-2005, Finally Captured-2008 and Stay Alive-2010) is now comprised of a family unit that includes Band Director Phillip “Grasshopper” Pickering on lead Vocals/Guitar, his brother Alvin “Jupiter” Pickering on Bass/Background Vocals, his two sons Akiba Mr. Snooze Pickering on Lead and background Vocals/Keyboards and rounding out the furious four is Aswad” Hollywood” aka Black Lion Pickering on Drums/Percussions. 1995, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010.

When asked what their religious or cultural beliefs were Grasshopper responded by saying “Love” is their doctrine”! Therefore it is safe to state that their doctrine of “Love” is all they need for their body of work which has taken them on tour from the Great Blue Heron Grassroots Festival in New York, Kentucky Reggae Festival in Kentucky, California World Music Festival and Sierra Nevada World Music Fest in California, Lafayette Reggae Festival in Louisiana, D.R.A. River Festival and Lobsterfest in Maine, Island Reggae Fest in Michigan, Springfest in Florida and Ocean State Reggaefest in Rhode Island, Antiliansse Festen in Belgium, Reggae Summer Nights in Germany, SXSW in Texas, Dios Latinos Festival in Holland to Muzikfest in Pennsylvania, Yes Inner Visions has and continues to blaze the trail!
The Inner Visions Reggae Band is currently home in St. John playing the local circuit at their weekly spots during the season on Thursdays at High Tide Seafood Bar & Grill in Cruz Bay where they also hosted the launch of their recently released video entitled “Hands Up Babylon!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1OJ6DucmOM and on St. Thomas on Sundays at Latitude 18 Waterfront Restaurant & Bar on Vessup Lane.
They are preparing for two annual shows, one in St. Thomas on Jan 20th at the 16th Annual Bordeaux Agricultural & Cultural Food Fair presented by We Grow Food Inc. then on St. John on Jan 26th for the highly anticipated “3” Day Love City Live 2K13 Live Concert http://www.experiencelovecitylive.com/ where they will be joined by two accomplished backup singers Sista Shikima Jones and Sista D’Carib Greenaway and flying in their Lead Keyboardist Mr. Leroy “Spikie” Guiste for the massive event; presented by Boyson Inc.
Not only are they players of instruments, they also play for charitable causes that are near and dear to their hearts like the St. John Benefit to support Cancer Research and Doctors without borders.
