With a soothing combination of sunlight and warm sea air, St. Kitts and Nevis are ideal vacation spots any time of the year.

Temperatures on both islands are tropical and moderate year-round. The average air temperature on the islands is between 78 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year, and humidity is usually around 71%.  The extreme high temperature is approximately 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and the extreme low can dip to 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Ninety five degrees may seem hot to most, but the islands experience low humidity and are cooled by northeast trade winds, which make the high temperatures very bearable. Higher altitudes, especially in winter, see cooler weather.

…”better rain than a hurricane”.

The climate of St. Kitts can be classified as tropical marine.  A tropical marine climate is influenced mainly by the seas surrounding the area, and typified by two main seasons: a wet season and a dry season.

St. Kitts’ wet season is May through October, which coincides with the tourist off-season, and is also the hottest time of year.  Average temperatures during these months range from 78 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average rainfall of 4.52 inches.  Hurricane season also occurs during these months, running from June to November. Locals are often heard to say: “better rain than a hurricane”.

St. Kitts and Nevis location in the hurricane belt, means rain and high winds during hurricane season. If visiting the islands during this time of year, tourists should pack adequate rain gear, even if no hurricane is scheduled to hit the islands.  The outter belts of a hurricane or tropical storm that is hitting another island may effect the weather of St. Kitts.  The fact that it is hurricane season shouldn’t prevent you from planning a vacation to the islands – just plan ahead and purchase travelers insurance.  If a hurricane strikes just before you are scheduled to arrive, call your hotel to ensure it is still opened for business.

Tourists tend to visit the island more from November to April when weather in northern countries is at its worst, and weather in Turks and Caicos is at its best.  Average temperatures during these months range from a cool 75 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 85.  Most travelers bring their coolest light-cotton clothing to dress for the warm temperatures during this time of year.

Below you will find information regarding the average daily high and low temperatures, average monthly percipitation, and percentage of days with rain each month.
