The Caribbean Essence group will also present a runway show to the European fashion trade industry on July 3 at the events new venue the Opernwerkstätten, an abandoned opera prop factory complex steeped in tradition in the Berlin-Mitte district.

The presence of Caribbean designers at The Gallery Berlin contributes to the events mandate of producing the most diverse event ever and has already caught the interest of the international media.

Each designer naturally brings something very different and distinct as they present their collections.   Arlene Martin, brainchild of drennaLUNA, will present her Montego Bay collection which is inspired by different sides of Jamaica, with designs that include structure and fluidity.

Oriett Domenech’s Capsule Collection consists of an array of great evolution in the shape of the women as her army with each piece representing strength and wisdom and symbolized by colour and clothing.

At the other end of the spectrum from Domenech’s structured clothing Heather Jones International’s Colours of the Ocean collection displays the fluidity and movement of the ocean with rich turquoise blues, royal blues, greens and purples all hand painted on different weights of silk chiffon and silk organza.

Keeping it sharp and minimalistic MEILING’s Cocoon collection is for summer resort wear, with modular versatile pieces that can uniquely be worn front, back and even upside down.  Barbados’ 5th Element, led by principal designer Andrea King, presents classic pieces that make year round, bold, fashion statements using cottons, jerseys, georgettes and chiffons.

Caribbean Essence Fashion Showcase, an initiative of Caribbean Export, will demonstrate the vibrancy and creative expression found within the Caribbean.
