Attending the London 2012 Olympics?

The Caribbean business community has been handed a rare opportunity to win new contracts and to reach new overseas markets through the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Already leading international business CEOs have confirmed they are attending the biggest business event to be held in London during the Olympics – the African and Caribbean Business Expo at the Five Star Grosvenor House Hotel opposite Hyde Park.

They will be joined by high profile speakers from business and politics including Dr. Vince Cable, the Secretary of State for Business in the UK Government who will use the Expo to explore how businesses based in the Caribbean can build strong trade links with diaspora businesses in London.

Much of the focus will be on how the Caribbean’s natural position between the established markets in North America and the UK and its unique connections with Africa and the EU can assist in driving exports and landing new contracts.

The Expo will also offer specialist seminars, thought-provoking debates and themed ‘keynote’ talks, as well as a tailored networking programme to promote collaboration and joint ventures between businesses from the UK and abroad.

Baroness Oona King, the Expo’s Patron, said:

“The London 2012 Olympics provides us with an unparalleled chance to meet heavyweight business people from across the globe without having to travel the world. Particularly at such a defining time for African and Caribbean economies, it makes sense, with our large diaspora, for the UK to capitalise on the prospects in these markets. The Expo will create a unique space for this to happen and I’m incredibly excited at this amazing opportunity.”

There are still some opportunities to sponsor the event, which will receive high profile international media exposure, and to book exhibition trade stands at very affordable prices. Business people can attend for free and more information is available from www.aacbe.co.uk.

Those who register will benefit from:

  • Free attendance at several cultural and business events
  • Free attendance at the Caribbean Export Development Agency’s investment forum, specifically targeted at EU investors
  • Places at the sector specific seminars including business networking with high profile speakers such as the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable and Mr Henry Bellingham MP, the UK’s minister for Africa and Overseas Territories.
  • Business concierge services at specially discounted rates facilitated by the AACBE in collaboration with the Caribbean Enterprise Network (CENUK), to help you gather market intelligence on the ground from global businesses based in and around London during the Olympics.
