Home African Caribbean Cocaine swallowing Guyanese hairdresser jailed in USA

A Guyanese hairdresser is currently being held at the Brooklyn Metro Detention Centre after being intercepted at the JFK International Airport with over 100 pellets of cocaine in her stomach.

26-year-old Shureen Giddings has been charged for knowingly and unlawfully importing cocaine into the United States.

She was busted on November 9, just after arriving at the JFK airport in New York on a flight from Guyana.

According to court documents, the woman was subjected to a Customs and Border Protection examination.

Her pieces of luggage were searched and the agents also carried out a body pat-down for drugs.

She was questioned extensively and eventually admitted that she had swallowed pellets that were filled with cocaine.

The woman requested to use the restroom and it was there that she started to pass the cocaine pellets out.

Giddings initially passed out 17 pellets which tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Law Enforcement agents escorted her to a medical facility at the airport for an x-ray examination and it was there that it was revealed that she had several more pellets in her stomach.

A total of 105 pellets were retrieved from her body carrying a total weight of just over 3 pounds. She was immediately arrested.

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit in Guyana has since been informed of the bust and is carrying out investigations locally.

Sources close to CANU have revealed to News Source “there are no records of anyone swallowing that large number of cocaine locally. She has set a record”.

Just this past weekend, CANU agents swooped down on the Alpha Hotel on the East Coast and busted two men with cocaine pellets. One of them was caught swallowing the pellets as he prepared to travel to the U.S.

Both men have since been charged. Article courtesy http://newssourcegy.com/
