In Pageant News. Miss Curvaceous UK held its third modelling competition for aspiring plus size models on Sunday 24th November 2013, at the Camden Centre in Kings Cross, London.

This unique contest which shines the spot light on curvy models was hosted by an entertainment company called Streamline Empire. This corporation is founded by the young Jamaican and Nigerian entrepreneur Theodore Llori.

For the introductory segment of the competition, 18 stunning curvaceous contestants rocked the runway in designer Dea London’s sophisticated work attire.

The audience roared with excitement as the plus sized models strutted in high heels and posed for the judges and photographers. The marvellous choreography was directed by 2013 BEFTA Award Winner – Best Fashion Choreographer, Reuben P Joseph. The confident ladies showcased themselves as professional business women, acting out daily office tasks.

A member of the ‘Beating Eating Disorders’ BEAT Charity, shared her painful yet inspiring journey of how she struggled to accept her size by taking laxatives, starving herself and almost losing her life.

She encouraged the audience to make donations to help young people who suffer from anorexia, bulimia and other deadly eating disorders.

Streamline Empire’s very own talented Che Lingo graced the stage with his mind blowing lyrics and vocals. His energy bounced around the room as he jumped from the stage to the runway.

The well known artist took the stage, and had the audience at his feet as he sang his latest single. Afro Beats singer Ezi Emela’s performance was explosive! Her dancers transformed the stage into a tribal battle field between themselves.

Casual wear was the second segment of Miss Curvaceous UK 2013. The models appeared on the runway in different shapes, colours and sizes; all ranging from size 12 onwards.

Even though the contestants were representing equality amongst plus size women, diversity was apparent as the curvy beauties showcased their fashion sense and creativity through their chosen outfits.

The tribal and African theme, continued into the third and final segment of the night. The charming contestants paraded the runway in Syreeta Badu’s curvy clothing collection which is inspired by colourful African prints and designs.

They were complemented with two of the latest fashion trends: pastel colours and monochromes. From the inception the judges were faced with a difficult decision as the competition was very stiff.

To make the decision less gruesome, each contestant introduced themselves to the judges, stating their name, number and the reason they took part in this prestigious contest.

Out of the 18 worthy plus size beauties, the top 5 were chosen. That is when the atmosphere changed; the crowd was no longer relaxed.

They were all anxious to discover who will walk away with the coveted title, prize money, magazine features, a modelling contract and many more rewarding prizes.

The tension and anxiety was blown away with roars of excitement from the spectators. What a spectacular night!
