The Archway Guesthouse B&B nested in the heart of Windermere, Lake District received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence Award.
Tripdavisor Award is now in its sixth year, the achievement / award celebrates hospitality businesses that have earned great traveler reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year. Certificate of Excellence recipients include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a quality customer experience.
Archway Guesthouse continues to receive raving reviews from guests / visitors and is fast becoming one of the more popular B&Bs in the Lake District.

The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.
Archway Guesthouse B&B is operated by St. Bernards a Caribbean / Dutch UK Diaspora family, one of the directors, Jamaican born Stephen St.Bernard, confirmed that growing up in Jamaica and experiencing the tourism product first hand has influenced his family in making this decision to bring the warmth of the Caribbean into this part of the world, he explains that the beautiful green mountains and valleys of the lake district reminds him a lot of the country of his birth, he believes that the B&B sector / model could bring GREAT VALUE ADD TO JAMAICAN / CARIBBEAN COMMUNITIES as many visitors are looking for options to explore, get close to and interact with Caribbean community daily life which is filled with colour, excitement and intrigue, he believes that this is an untapped market and if developed will bring economic activity, income and growth directly into the communities.
Stephen is a final year International Business Degree Student from Lincoln University in the UK and is focused on taking the family hospitality business to the next level. His elder sister Tessa who graduated from university 2 years ago with a degree in early childhood education also gets involved in the business from time to time, making it a real family affair headed by Dutch mom Anita.
It is clear that Stephen is a chip off the old block, as his Dad, Denis St.Bernard is a well – known International Business Consultant with business interests in the Caribbean. He commented that his kids are the ones with the energy, current talents and know-how as it relates to the future, ‘our job is to provide them with the necessary tools and some of our experience and guidance’, he ended.
