“I just came from church and de pastor was talkin’ ’bout we single women need fe wait and be patient for God fe send we a man.  I guess de Pastor was talkin’ fe dem young 20 somting year ole women who jus come outta deh mother belly.  He can’t be talkin’ fe me in me 50’s and still waitin’….Why can’t him come now!  I  was listenin’ to Juanita Bynum di other day she was talkin on di same subject, she say, ‘Why is it when you hear that  I must wait, it always come from someone who is married and haven’t got a clue about jumping into that cold bed at night alone!  Juanita is sure right!”

So what does a 50 someting do while waitin’ on God for dat special person??

1.            Stay in Prayer, but first of all release the “Husband/wife” that you still have in your life, before you became a Christian.  Yes, you do.  You know that Jimmy who left you for a white girl or  Shankia who left you for a guy with a bigger motor  or Marcus who was so fine and the love of your life, but he had issues and too many other women on the go, not forgetting the “Baby daddy” or the “Baby mummy”.  What we don’t realise is that the people we slept with before marriage we sometimes hold on to in our minds.   ( John 4: 6) Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband.

2.            You have to forgive, release and let them go; God will not release that Godly man/woman he has for you unless you can forgive.  Call to mind everyone you have ever been with and ask God to help you to release them and let them go, because sometimes subconsciously we still hold on to the past hurt.  (Mathew 6:14-15) if you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your father will not forgive your sin.

3.            Wait patiently…the Bible, praises patience as a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) which should be produced for all followers of Christ. Patience reveals our faith in God’s timing, omnipotence, and love.

4              Stay in Prayer without ceasing “(1 Thessalonians 5:17) – Paul is not talking about prayer as an action; He is talking about it as an attitude. It is an attitude that places Jesus above everything else in our life and stay in the “Word” until you get your answer. Answers don’t always come from God talking to you direct, but by many different forms, but don’t read into something that is not there.  Let God speak to you in his own time, if you are not sure about his answer; ask him to show you another way.  Then you will know.

5.            Finish your prayers with Thanksgiving to God.  Thank him for what he is about to do in your life, thank him for stopping you making the same mistakes, thank him for just being God, thank him for your salvation, thank him for saying NO when you wanted it to be Yes.  We have so much to thank God for.

6.            Are you ready to “Submit” ……(to be continued)
