In episode 5 I told you how painful giving the wrong answer to an obvious question could be. It was the moment I realised how powerful a left hand the apple of my eyes, Angel, had.
This time she stood her ground, looked me in the eye and said, ‘what sort of stupid answer is that – answering a question with a question – are you a fool? To which I quietly replied, ‘No!’
She then proceeded to point out the many times she noticed me lurking around the cafeteria and other places she’d been but not doing anything constructive. I asked her how she knew I wasn’t doing something constructive…her reply was measured but deliberate, ‘Because you seemed to lack purpose about what you were doing,’. So then I said, ‘ You don’t even know me so how would you know what I look like when I’m doing something in a purposeful manner?’

It was at that point, the first time in my short life I thought I heard my heart skip a beat and stop! The pause seemed like an eternity, her face was expressionless and again, for just a moment I thought about my own mortality.
Suddenly with no warning she said, ‘So what are you doing for lunch today, did you bring something or are you buying lunch’? It was like I had been told by my mom…’No more chores for you for the rest of your life’ or ‘from today onwards I’ll clean your room and do all your homework’. I was so happy it was unbelievable!!
But before I could show her how I felt about her seeming to want to be friends with me, she was gone as quickly and quietly as she came…leaving me with the one thought…Life Sucks!!
