Signing of the MOU between West London Business and Manchester Chamber of Commerce
West London Business (WLB) and Manchester Chamber of Commerce Jamaica (MCOC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). On 19 October at the Jamaican High Commission. The meeting was hosted by his Excellency Mr. Seth George Ramocan, Jamaica’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Independent since 1962 and a commonwealth nation with a head of state we share, Jamaica’s and the UK’s links remain incredibly deep across the centuries. Both Jamaica and the UK are trading nations and Garfield Green – CEO of MCOC – and Andrew Dakers, CEO of WLB were delighted to cement the historic relationship between the two countries further with the signing of this MOU.

In his speech, Andrew Dakers, CEO of West London Business highlighted that “West London is a phenomenally diverse community; 44% of our residents were born outside the UK. Given this context it is no surprise that some of the Jamaican diaspora put down roots in our part of the city, particularly gravitating towards Harlesden.”
He also added that “Since 1966 the Notting Hill Carnival has particularly celebrated some of the Jamaican cultural heritage now infused into West London life. In late July 2017 the third ‘I love Jamaica day’ took place in Willesden, London Borough of Brent – another example of West London and Jamaica’s ties.”
Andrew Dakers concluded: “Garfield and I look forward to our members and partners active involvement in putting the principles set out in this MOU into practice.”
Garfield Green also said that “the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Manchester Chamber of Commerce (MCOC) and the West London Chamber of Commerce is a significant achievement for the business community in Manchester, Jamaica, for partnership and collaboration.
