Home African Caribbean ‘More Black programmes needed on British television’

Caribbean news. Samuell Benta has again made the call for more Black programmes to be produced and aired on television stations in Britain.

In a clip played during the “Not The One Show” on the London Live TV station in Britain on 27 May 2014, Samuell Benta re-emphasised the need for programming that reflects the Black population in the UK.

He commented on how the channels in Britain have failed to create programming line-ups that truly reflect the population of the nation and that he became so frustrated with the situation that he ended up producing, acting in and directing his own show. That show is the “All About The McKenzies” series which reflects Samuell’s British-Caribbean heritage and life for a typical family in London.

He considers that it “doesn’t make sense” for the different communities not to be properly represented.

Samuell will continue the discussion about the lack of a holistic Black visibility on British television at the Clapham Picturehouse cinema on 29 May. This will be in the Q&A session after the screening of the hit Caribbean comedy film “Keeping Up With The Joneses: the Movie” which will itself be supported by a clip from his own series “All About The Mckenzies”.
