WEDNESDAY JUNE 26, 2013; KINGSTOWN, SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES – It is a year since Roxanne Didier-Nicholas of Saint Lucia was crowned Ms Carival in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and says she enjoyed every minute of her reign.
In an exclusive interview with Caribbean news agency CaribDirect.com the Saint Lucia beauty queen said, “I enjoyed every single minute of my reign, from the moment I was crowned in Saint Vincent, I went back home the Saint Lucian public was very receptive and very proud of me. That was probably the favourite part of my reign.

“But I spent it doing my degree programme at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago St. Augustine Campus. And while I was there I was also recognized by Vincentians who were going to school with me.”
She pointed out it was not only Vincentians who recognized her, but students from other Caribbean countries as well.
Speaking of lessons learnt during her year’s reign, the 2012 Ms Carival said, “I would like to tell young people to remain focused on what you set out to do in life.
If you know the goals you have set out in life that you want to do, remain focused and do not allow anyone to distract you and tell you otherwise that you cannot achieve what you want to do.”
She called on the young people to have fun, and to take advantage of all opportunities of advancement, which becomes available.

Come Friday night June 28 2013, Roxanne Didier-Nicholas will be taking her final walk as Ms Carival 2012 on the stage at Carnival City, Victoria Park.
She sees herself and the other contestants as the region’s cultural ambassadors, and “sees our culture can be expressed in a number of ways.
The Saint Lucian beauty who won the Saint Lucia Carnival Queen title in 2011, making St Lucia news, is an active dancer says, “In terms of the arts we can use all of the talented people that the region has; not only Saint Lucia.
“We can use those persons to showcase how diverse yet unified our culture is as a Caribbean people. And many more programmes and festivals than we have today can be put on and progressed to an international level so the Caribbean region can really be put on the map for something else in terms of culture.”
