In Caribbean news. The iconic Tudor Rose Nightclub customer-led arts and cultural entertainment centre which served many diverse communities in West London and beyond for nearly thirty years is now under new management.
Established in 1986 by businessman and performer Mr. Ray Duncan the new management team comprises former mayor of the London Borough of Brent, Ms Bertha Joseph; former Acting Chair of the Notting Hill Carnival Board Allyson Williams MBE; and veteran banker / club manager Ursula James.

The focus of the shift to new management is to work toward restoring the once popular club to its former glory through excellence, diversity, creativity, integrity and empowerment. The team’s commitment to turning around the club’s reputation is through the provision of high quality service to its patrons, by investing in the recruitment, training and supervision of key staff personnel, as well as totally refurbishing the building. The team has appropriately named this venture, “Tudor Rose- the new dawn”.
Services planned for the new Tudor Rose will be supported by a strong business ethos and include conferencing, training and other social and cultural services. The first major achievement of the management team has been the creation of Tudor Rose Mentoring Academy (TRMA). This charity will target and provide training for young unemployed adults who are keen to return to employment.
A comprehensive modernisation programme, including the rebranding of the club’s products and services will form an integral part of the new vision. The re-building exercise is expected to be done over four phases which have already begun and include painting of the outside of the building in phase 1; change all upholstery and wall trim in phase 2; refurbish backstage and dressing room in phase 3; and build a second floor with new bars in the fourth and final phase.
In the interest of good community relations the Tudor Rose management appeal to its loyal patrons and friends to continue to support the club through this period of change. A series of open days will be held to build on the community spirit and ignite interest in the team’s future plans for the refurbishment of the building.
